Tick Tock, Tick Tock
Time is your most valuable asset. You’ve probably heard that before. Like many others, I value my time and choose to use it productively. For instance, I spend the first hour of each morning reading stimulating books that motivate, educate and inspire. Afterwards I exercise. This routine helps set the tone for the day….Stay positive, be productive, grow.

So instead of trolling through Facebook all morning (limit yourself to 15-20 minutes), wake up and invest in personal development.
Here’s what I’ve read recently.
- “Think Like A Freak” by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner (Get your mind out of the gutter. This book discusses ways to be more productive, creative and rational. )
- The Confidence Code” by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman
- “Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren (I re-read this several times a year. It helps me refocus.
I decided to write this post as a reminder of the value of our time. The goal is to emphasize the importance of spending time wisely and with the right people.
Run from Time Vampires…as fast as you can
Time Vampires are your worst enemy. They are people who suck your time like a vampire sucks blood. They waste valuable minutes of your life gossiping about other people or constantly complaining about their job, their spouse or other menial things.

You can’t use garlic to repel these vampires, instead you must use “will power”. Be disciplined enough to avoid people who are time wasters. When they attempt to engage you in fruitless activities, keep the interaction short. But beware, the vampires will notice and try to suck you back in. (See example below)
Here’s a recent conversation I had with a good friend.
Good Friend: Is everything ok?
Me: Yes, I’m good. Why do you ask?
Good Friend: So and So (time vampire) says you don’t seem like yourself.
Me: Girllllll, I just don’t have time for “The BS” (We both laugh)
We laughed because we both know what “The BS” stands for. It’s the pettiness of the time vampires who major in minor things. Don’t let these people drain your energy and stunt your growth. Surround yourself with people who lift you higher and encourage you to achieve your goals.
While others waste time, find ways to increase your awesomeness. If time vampires try to pull you into their BS then politely say… GIRL BYE!

I can’t agree more. I’ve learned this over the years, and just started really practicing it. I’d say you need to watch out for two things: time vampires and joy vampires. Neither deserves your energy. XO
Absolutely! We need more positivity in our lives.;)
